Trees are perhaps more valued in the urban landscape as they are often the sole natural features in some of the most heavily trafficked areas and greening the urban environment by planting trees and improving the street scene is a priority for many local Authorities.
However, there can be a tension between the needs of pedestrians and the creation of a beneficial environment that will encourage the tree to flourish. Trees disturb paving and may struggle to establish.
We offer advice and support to clients for a clean integrated surface and planted with healthy trees with a suitably specified ‘tree pit’ surface and were on the working party that produced the LTOA Surface materials around trees in hard landscapes.
Site conditions, budget and the needs of the tree are all elements that we consider, whether part of a new planting scheme or remedial works to established tree stock.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the installation of trees and resin bound gravel surfacing work that your company has just completed for us on various schemes. The end result is excellent and far exceeded our expectations and was completed exactly on schedule. I would also like to thank your staff for their courtesy and the effort they put into tidying up at the end of the job. The men working on the site were polite, very helpful and willing to listen to our requirements and give us advice and the benefit of their experience. We would recommend your firm to anyone contemplating soft landscape works.”
