Planting street trees is a core activity for us

Local Authority Work

We do more than plant, we work with Tree Officers offering a survey service to help identify suitable planting locations. Planting trees in proximity to services requires careful planning and consultation. Whether one tree or the entire annual Highways planting programme, we have an experienced NRSWA qualified team ready to deliver.

These improvement schemes fall outside of the standard Local Authority planting projects. Specifications, species selections and tree sizes reflect the increased emphasis on the aesthetic and multi-use nature of public space. Installation of super mature trees, structural cells and specialist soils/subsoils are all part of delivering great work.

Not just a numbers game allocating sufficient resources towards site preparation and maintenance are simple ways to avoid high failure rates. Clients often look to establish new small ‘woodland’ pockets in areas previously used as open access grass areas. Decompaction and soil conditioning will provide young trees with more viable growth conditions. Augment this with regular maintenance, suppression of competition from vegetation and watering and success rates treble.

Commercial Planting

One aspect of this type of planting is the involvement of a client landscape architect. With 20yrs of experience we are well positioned to collaborate and offer beneficial feedback on designs as they are developed on site.
As with public realm works specifications are often higher to allow for planting of larger stock and require an understanding of tree planting systems and stringent maintenance programmes.

Maintenance

The team at Street Tree Ltd also provide maintenance and aftercare for trees we have planted for 3-5 years to ensure that they grow and establish – this includes watering and any essential shaping or pruning.
Increasingly hot & dry Spring and Summer conditions have meant that now more than ever the importance of well-timed regular maintenance over an extended period is essential.
