Sunny Hill Park
This project took place in 2012 with funding offered through the Big Tree Plant Launched in December 2010, The Big Tree Plant was a Government-sponsored campaign in England to promote the planting of one million trees in neighbourhoods where people live and work
The aim, to create a new small woodland area in the park planted with over 1000 whips.
Pupils from nearby Sunnyfields Primary School helped out on planting day and also attend a ceremonial planting of a Black Poplar to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee and National Tree Week.
These native whips have now grown into a healthy copse on what was once compacted ground in this popular park in Barnet.
